Local Leaders Celebrate Foxconn's Commitment to Zero Liquid Discharge

The following statements were issued regarding Foxconn’s announcement that it will be creating a Zero Liquid Discharge system at its manufacturing facility in the Village of Mount Pleasant:

Mayor Cory Mason, City of Racine:

“As the Mayor, I am charged with protecting Lake Michigan with our water and wastewater utility. I am very encouraged by Foxconn’s announcement of zero liquid discharge. It will reduce the amount of Lake Michigan water Foxconn needs to withdraw, and protect Lake Michigan from industrial discharge. Foxconn should be lauded for their investment in protecting the environment.”

County Executive Jonathan Delagrave, Racine County:

“Today’s announcement is worth celebrating. Foxconn is going the extra mile to make costly adjustments to its facility that will protect – at an even higher level than before – our greatest local resource, Lake Michigan.”

Claude Lois, Village of Mount Pleasant:

“Foxconn has proven itself to be a responsible and environmentally conscious partner from day one. Today’s announcement is just one more example of Foxconn’s willingness to work with local officials to pursue solutions that everyone can support and be proud of.”

Jenny Trick, Executive Director, Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC):

“We are pleased to see Foxconn’s proactive approach to ensuring the safety of our environment, the quality of our water and the health of our area’s greatest natural resource, Lake Michigan. The Zero Liquid Discharge facility is a major investment by Foxconn that will benefit our entire community and signals their continued commitment to working collaboratively with local, county and state leaders.”
